This all may sound repetitious, but the infectious personalities of the performers — topped off with great singing voices and Camille Edralin’s dynamic choreography — just keep the songs rolling along. All the talent on stage is matched by the creative team here. In addition to Jackson, Kana, Edralin and Tighe, Leandra Watson adds so much sparkle and color with her many costumes, Aaron Spivey’s lighting is exciting and vibrant, and Jon Hayward’s sound makes nearly every sung word understandable.
The company program this weekend at the Lesher Center included what this newspaper’s critic, Ann Murphy, called the “musically stormy” and athletic “Weather One,” a world premiere by former American Ballet Theatre ballerina Susan Jaffe, and the “brooding and often beautiful” “Railroad Joint” by Yuri Zhukov, The company will repeat the program Feb, 13 to 16 at the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco and plans a spring program, “Adjusting the Lens,” to be performed at the ODC Theater in San Francisco April 25 to May 3 and at the Lesher Center dancing gift dancing shirt dancer shirt forget glass slippers this princess wears ballet shoes t-shirt May 5 to 11..
A friend started a “blue ribbon” fund for Janelle in Pacifica. “Blue” was the six year old’s favorite color. Along with blue-ribboned donation containers, the fence at Oddstad was decorated in ribbons. When Janelle came home on July 24, she helped take the ribbons down. She had relearned how to walk and talk and move her arms. She was able to enter second grade with her classmates. Her mom signed Janelle up for ballet, hip hop and tap, all of which Janelle loved. She had taken dance before the accident. (Dance is considered excellent therapy for brain trauma.) She had short-term memory issues and worked with a tutor. She worked with a tutor all the way through college.
